Euphoria

So if you haven’t watched Euphoria on HBO here is the go ahead to just do it.

Seriously, it is such a work of art, starting with the cinematography, to the strength of the actors, and even through all the little details such as costuming, writing, set design, and its unique makeup looks. (Warning: it is a very graphic and vulgar show, if you are triggered by drugs and cussing, etc. it may not be for you.)

Most people I’ve known who’ve watched it connect to different things. Each character is rooted in their own personal weaknesses, and for me- resonated with the reality of mental health.

My friend Amy Friedlander, (@xoamylauren for those on instagram) is an amazing actress, dancer, and makeup artist who started creating some Euphoria-inspired makeup looks THAT KILL. Forreal go follow her right now and check it out. I got to collaborate with Amy and the amazingly talented Delsin DePuy (@delsindepuy- who you should also go follow right this very second) on some of these looks for a styled photo shoot and seriously it is my new favorite thing.

Taking inspiration from the title of the show, I wanted to attempt to capture both the highs and lows of emotion in these images.

The motion blur of the world around you while you feel at a standstill. The struggle to focus on one single thing. The dissociation of self. The introspection. The frantic thoughts. The emptiness. The grey-state. The isolation.

And I hope these images, at the very least, take a little stab in the beauty of all of that..
